And then it hit me! I feel horrible not myself when I don't run regularly. I have decided that my exercise prescription must include 4-5 days of running. This is not optional unless I decide that crying over a 10 pound bucket of popcorn and watching 5 episodes of Glee in a row is how I want to spend my nights. But for now I'm shooting for less popcorn, no tears and one episode of Glee. (I really love on demand TV programs).
I love running. I don't love it more than anything, but I love everything more because I run.

Injury Prevention
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I believe this. I think. I've always done some level of strength training as a runner. I lifted weights in high school for fun and running was the torture my volleyball coach made us do. So for me having a strong cardiovascular system came much later in my life than did my ability to bench press or do some weighted squats.
I'm working on strength training some runners this winter. I hope they stay injury free this spring and summer as we start to hit the trails. They are working so hard....that's got to be worth something.

For a few (40) minutes today I felt amazing! Here is the hill workout that nearly killed me. Well, to be honest, it was the kids fighting all day that nearly killed me. I owned the run!
Run the whole 40 minutes at an easy pace (mine was 9:13 min/mile).
10 minutes 1%
5 minutes 2%
2 minutes 3%
2 minutes 4%
2 minutes 5%
2 minutes 4%
2 minutes 3%
5 minutes 2%
10 minutes 1%
I know you are thinking this looks easy. Ha! You try it and let me know how you felt. Did you own it?
